Tim Dunleavy, TalkinBroadway Based on the 1984 novel of the same name, BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY was first staged at the New York Theatre Workshop in 1999. The show chronicles the devastation of a year in the life of Jamie, a twenty-something New Yorker, as he relives the loss of his mother, wife, job and dignity in the span of one week. Jamie falls into a downward spiral where he turns to the addictive club scene of 1980's Manhattan, but he escapes in time to learn valuable lessons about family, loss and love. The riveting rock ‘n’ roll score is reminiscent of the 1980's sound, but remains as timeless as the story it tells. Audiences will rock out with the title song, laugh out loud during the hilarious "I Hate The French" and will be brought to tears during the heart wrenching "Are You Still Holding My Hand?"
